TAS5631b overload protection

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5631B

Hi forum,

I see that the TAS5631b might trigger OLP, when driving a current pulse into a ~1Ohm/150uH inductive load.

The output configuration is PBTL.

The current pulse is about 300us long and 18Amps high.

The emitted power would be P = R*I^2 = 1*18*18 = 324 Watts.

Is this the absolute maximum current the device can emit?

The R_OCP (Overcurrent programming resistor) is 47kOhm, because I want the device to latch overcurrent events.

When the event in question ocurs, the READY and the SD pin go low.

After about 1ms SD goes high again and 0.2ms later READY goes high again.

Since the device does not latch this event, I assume this is not a overcurrent event.

Best regards,

Bernhard
