Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM4204
Hi:
I am looking for some information to build my own multitrack recorder. I need it to have 16 channels, and of coure, i must be able to store the recordings of each channel in a separate track. I have been looking for the rigth ADCs.
First i came up with the PCM1850, it has 6 stereo inputs, so i thought i should be able to use it as 12 mono inputs... The problem is that i dont know if that ADC allows me to record each channel sepparatly or that if mixes all channels. I found it has no TDM, and as i understood for the block diagram, i think everey channel is multiplexed into the same delta sigma modulator. Thats why i dont know if i can store the audio on every channel alone or if the ADC mixes all inputs and then i would only be able to get the right and left output. Anybody knows about that?
Other ADC that cought my attention was the PCM4204. It has 4 channels and i can combien 2 of them to get 8 inputs. I think that i also can get each channel sepparately by the SDOUT with a TDM format.
Now if i use 2 of them i understood that i could get 8 channels in the same output... So using 4 (combined by 2) i could get the desired 16 channels in 2 digital outputs... Is that right? And if it is right.. i would need to use some DSP with 2 digital inputs, wouldnt i? which DSP can you recommend me for a multitrack recorder?
All the data should be stored in a SD memory as raw data.. or if its possible, each channel should be finally stored as a .wma or .flac audio file in that memory.
If someone could help me i would be very happy
