Is it possible to update a slave's firmware/config via a purepath link to the master, which is connected via USB?

How? (HID remote?)

    Hi Hans, 

    Yes, if there is a host-MCU on both sides of the link you can use the guarantied delivery side data channel for this purpose. 

    It is not possible if either sides of the link is autonomous and/or USB.
