Hello. I need to use a class-D amp to drive a

DC inductive load.. (big solenoid used for positioning)

I was going to use the TPA3106 - it appears to have DC

continuity throughout the device, and a differential input.

(seems perfect) Has anyone done this, and

if the answer is "no, don't use it for that" can they recommend

a class-D that is good for DC applications?

Hello,

By their nature Class D amplifiers are not DC amplifiers in the sense of DC in = DC out. They have PWM modulation that switches or pulses a constant DC value rail onto a load.

You may want to check out DRV595. It may be more suitable to your application.

Is there any good technical reason I cant us the TPA3106 part?

For example - are any of the feedback paths in the amp AC coupled??

Is it designed specifically to NOT pass DC ?

I completely understand that PWM is not "DC" in the traditional

sense - In general I just want to use the TPA3106 as a pulse width

modulator under DC control - like a glorified 555 - but with big FETS

built in..
