ENABLE pin on LME49724

Hi all, first post here and not sure if in the right forum, but here goes.

I am designing yet another microphone preamp and I am wondering how to effectively use the enable pin.

In the architecture I am implementing, saving a bit of power is not an issue, but I wonder if I can use the enable pin as sort of a 'MUTE' function.

What is the behaviour of the amp while disabled if there is a normal amplitude signal at the input?

When the amp is disabled, what kind of input protection should I consider?

Thanks, Luc

  • Hi, Luc,

Welcome! Glad you get to work on your passion!

I don't have experience with this device, but I would assume based on my experience with other devices that the inputs will clamp any input signal to a diode drop above ground due to the esd cell.

We have a standard Evm for op amps that you should be able to drop this on and see if it will fit your needs. Let me know if you can't find it. I think it costs $5 or something like that.
