TAS5657M Automute.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5756M

Regarding the automute function of the above device, is there a register command that one can use to stop the power amplifier output stage from switching, but leave the DAC active?

I have a set up where I am monitoring the output of a GPIO, configured to assert when automute enables, and would like to be able to shut down the output stage when automute is flagged.

There is the standby function and although that stops the output stage from switching it also switches the DAC/digital processing off too.

What I am trying to do here is keep the DAC on at all times and monitor if automute is asserted on the GPIO pin. If the pin is asserted then the micro controller shuts down the output stage to save power. Then, if the device receives a digital signal and the automute is cleared the micro turns the output stage back on, but only keeps it on when it is needed.

Currently the standby function turns the DAC off which shuts down the devices ability to work the automute and the GPIO pins.

According to the datasheet the hardware pin SPK_MUTE only asserts a soft mute state too, rather than shutting down the output stage.

Many thanks,

Matt.
