What is the purpose of this pin?
It seems rather redundant to have just brought this pin out for the sole purpose
of connecting a resistor to it.
Perhaps something more along the lines of a CCS would be best here?

I will have to dig a little bit to find the full functionality of this pin, I will look into this and get back to you when I get some answers.

Hi James,
This pin requires a resistor as it will set the bias point for the current output scale. Although you could play with the values of this resistor we do not have test data on different values other than the recommended resistor value, so that is what we recommend be used.
