AIC3254EVM-U CS Questions

Hi All, I have a TI TLV320AIC3254EVM-U USB EVM. When I run the demos provided by TI AIC3254EVM-U CS, I have questions for two built-in demos.

Under the Typical Configuration option there are 3 options and they are (1) High Performance Stereo Playback, (2) Low Power Stereo Playback, and (3) PGA Analog Bypass.  The first two demos worked out of the box.

My first question is the Recording Demo. I don’t know how the Recording demo works. But when I start Recording demo, nothing happens. I checked PC, the Sound and Audio Device Settings have USB-miniEVM for both playback and recording. However, under the Device Property, I cannot find and set microphone or line-in. It didn’t seem to have a valid audio (microphone or line-in) input device. Any one tried the Recording demo? How it supposes to work?

Second, even the playback works, after I loaded the PGA Analog Bypass demo, nothing happened. How this PGA demo works? Why I can’t hear any audio playback?

I am not if I have missed something or there is a problem with my TLV320AIC3254EVM-U USB EVM analog audio input path.

Does anyone have used TLV320AIC3254EVM-U USB EVM and able to run these two demos?

Thanks a lot for your help in advance.

Bob

  • Hi Bob,

The Recording configurations route the line-in input of the AIC3254EVM-U to the left ADC and right ADC (IN2_L and IN2_R). Using an audio recording software tool, such as Goldwave, or Adobe Audition (aka Cool Edit) you should be able to record a signal connected to this jack (e.g. MP3 player, etc.)

See the Script tab of each panel for a description of the routing. For instance:

    ###############################################
    # PGA Analog Bypass
    # ---------------------------------------------
    # This script routes IN2_L/R inputs to HPL/R
    # outputs through MicPGA. Connect a portable
    # media player to J1 (IN2_L/R) and headphones
    # to J4.
    #
    # Ensure the input signal does not exceed the
    # maximum rated input voltage.
    ###############################################

This is an analog bypass, so there is no A/D or D/A conversion involved.

    Regards,

    J-

  • Hi J Arbona,

Thank you very much. With your help, I am now able to record audio.
