Can two PCM2704C be used on condition of the following?

・A different voice file into two PCM2704.

・Two PCM2704C reproduces a different voice file "simultaneously".

Best regards,

Satoshi

  • Hi, Satoshi-san,

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you are trying to do?

Do you want to have two PCM2704Cs enumerated into one PC and have them be able to be used as different "sound cards"?

  • Dear Don Dapkus-san

    Thank you for reply.

    I'm sorry for little information.

     Your thinking is correct

Customer using Two PCM2704Cs, one PC, and different "sound cards".

They trying that two PCM2704Cs output at the same timing.

    Best regards,

    Satoshi

  • Dear Satoshi-san,

As long as the PCM2704Cs are connected to two different USB ports and Sound cards each..

Driving out the audio file at the same timing will depend to the operating system of the PC.

    Thank you for reply

    Customer infoemation updated.

・Customer Block image (please see below)

                       Port A               Line-out
    Chipset <―――> PCM2704(A)―――> AMP(A)―――> SPKR (Output only sound card-1)
                Port B               Line-out
             <―――> PCM2704(B)―――> AMP(A)―――> SPKR (Output only sound card-2)

    ・Sanpling rate : 44.1kHz

    --------------------------------------------------

Isn't there any "time lag" between PCM2704(A) and PCM2704(B)?
(If it's 20ms or less, I think that it's OK)

    Best regards,

    Satoshi

  • Dear Satoshi-san,

Concerning the configuration of the customer, the answer will depend only on how the PC is handling the data with the USB and the soundcards, I can not test it and go into the PC operating system.

However, as long as the I2S signal going to the two PCM2704 is the same in the same timing, the audio file will runs simultaneously through the speaker.

So for running simultaneously the same audio file, I would rather use only one USB port and split the I2S signal (MCLK, SCLK, LRCLK, DATA) in two for the PCMs.. but the inconvenient of that is that you cannot use two different sounds card.
