TAS5630B oscillator start-up problems

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5630B

Hi Ti,

I have some questions regarding TAS5630B and start-up time of the internal oscillator.

We are using 2 IC's; one master and one slave. They are set up for PBTL mode and have exactly the same componentvalues as in the evaluation board. The start-up time are almost 1.5 sec and one board is unstable and sometimes does not start at all. If I disconnected the slave IC it always start, but with the long start-up time.

I noticed by chance that if the outputs called SD_, OTW_ and READY are pulled up to VREG by 1k resistors on the master, it always start, but the long start-up time persist. Since this is not an obvious solution to the problem, I am afraid to go for this fix. Do you have any idea what is going on here?

What should be the normal start-up time? Considering the small capacitors used, the start-up timeshould be in the order of a few millisec.

Should I use resistors in the differential OSC_IO traces between master and slave ?
