TLV320AIC3204IRHBR 25pin to GND short problem

Dear all

My customer uses TLV320AIC3204IRHBR to make remote controller for several years.

But today they find a problem that 25 pin (left high power output driver) is short to GND.

The amount is 50 pcs of 800 pcs total,  very high rate.

I have no idea except EOS.

Do you have any experience or advice about it ?

    Hi GU,

    You'd have to ensure that Absolute Maximum Ratings are ensured for this part, especially for pins that connect to the outside world. Yes, I would suspect either EOS or ESD. Can you post the schematic portion that shows the HPL output and any other circuitry associated with it?

    Thanks for your reply.

    I went to customer yesterday and confirmed the problem.

    There are two problems for 25 pin.

    1. output wave of 25pin(HPL) distort.

    2. 25pin and 26pin is short

     

    I did some test and confirmed that TLV320AIC3204IRHBR was broken. The reason still need to be investigated.

    Hi GU,

    I'd recommend measuring at pin 25 with a scope to see transient voltage when plugging and unplugging to help determine the cause of the issue.
