Hi,

I would use AIC3254 with wearable application.

http://www.ti.com/product/tlv320aic3254

So it is ncessary to estimate current comsunption before makeing the bord.

How should I calicurate current consumption as below presupposition :

Hardware:TLV320AIC3254 EVM-U
Sampling Freq:24kHz
MIC impedance:2.2kΩ
Input Resisotr to AIC3254:10kΩ
MIC bias:1.25V
miniDSP load:1550 cycle(DSP A and D)
operation clk:24kHz
output:HP output only,Line Out is power down

Pls let me know if I missed oversights.

regards,

kyt

  • Kyt,

Expect around 20mA of current off DVDD when operating both miniDSP_A and miniDSP_D at the same time at 1550 cycles at 24kHz sampling and PLL is running.

In general, miniDSP power consumption per core is around 0.009*cycles*Fs/44100. Then there is some offset associated with the ADC and DAC, etc. power consumption for DVDD. So for your case 0.009*1550*24000/44100 = 7.6mA per core, or around 15mA total. Then add around 5mA extra to account for the offset. This offset is determined by the blocks that are powered, powertune modes, etc. The best way to determine it is to measure it using an EVM.

Power required also depends on headphone output, load, etc. The new TLV320AIC3254 datasheet has recommendations on power supply requirements.
