Hi,

please let me know if the TPA3116D2 PBTL max power indicated the datasheet is in W RMS(100WRMS).

So, as I see in Figure 23, the power efficiency of TPA3116D2 is about 87% and I need a power supply with at least 115-120WRMS.

Yes, the part is rated for 100W RMS PBTL.

is the 100W RMS maximal output power of TPA3116D2 PBTL rated for 2, 3 or 4R load?

Hi Paul,
Thank you very much for your answer.
Today I made some test with TPA3116D2EVM, here the result:

Power supply:
Vin = 22.9Vrms
Iin = 6.4Arms

Output:
Vout = 14.2Vrms
RL= 2Ohm

The amplifier input signal is a 1Khz sinusoidal tone.

So I have a power efficiency near 70%.
Please let me know how you reach 87% of power efficiency as described in figure 23 of the TPA3116D2 datasheet, so I can correct my setup.

Hi, Alberto,

Please refer to the measurement apps note below. Make sure that the PD/PD resistors current are not included in the calculation.

Do you mean 100W RMS on 4R load?
Do you measure the output power on simple resistive load or RLC load like simulated speaker?
