PCM4104 Output Scaling

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM4104

Hello,

I am using the PCM4104 (4-channel Audio DAC) in a design and I have a question about output voltage scaling.  There are Vref+ and Vref- pins for each of the 4 output channels.  The datasheet states that these pins should be tied to Vcc and Agnd respectively.

However, I would like the output voltage scale to be a bit smaller.  Therefore is it possible to set the output voltage scale using Vref+ and Vref-, or does it really only work if those pins are tied to Vcc and Agnd?  For example, could I set Vref+ to +4V and Vref- to +1V to limit the output scale to be between those two voltage levels?

Thank you for any help with this!
