DIT4192 transfer distance?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DIT4192, DIX4192

Hello,

Customer has a question about  DIT4192. What is the transfer distance of DIT4192 in follow condition?

1.

Recommended Transmitter Output Circuit for
Balanced, 110Ω Twisted-Pair Transmission.

2.

Recommended Transmitter Output Circuit for
Unbalanced, 75Ω Coaxial Cable Transmission.

Thank you.

  • Hi, Nat,

Welcome to e2e, and thanks for your interest in our products!

On the EVM for the DIX4192 (a higher performance device similiar to the DIT4192), we used a SN74AHCT1G125DBV to buffer the signal. You can see the schematic we implemented on the EVM. (click here).

  • It is not easy to answer. It depend on many parameters.

    1. For balanced output you will get range probably over 10 meters for 192kHz. With lower sampling speed it will work on longer wire. It also depend on wire quality and his impedance which must be ideally 110Ω.
Recommeded output circuit is in datasheet. For transformer you can use pulse transformer DA102C or PE-65612 or S22083 or LL1572. You don't need external driver because it is included in the DIT4192.

    2. For unbalanced output you will get range about few meters. Voltage 5V is too high that there is used 2:1 transformer and other resistor for match impedance. In my construction I use simple voltage divider if I don't need isolated output.

And also you don't need special driver because it is also included in the chip.
You will use only one TX pin. Usually TX+ and TX- will be unconnected.
Cable must be high-quality coaxial cable with impedance 75Ω. Ideally thick cable for video.

    Best regards, Pavel.
