TPA3112D1 design and datasheet question

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA3112D1

Hi,

I am using TPA3112D1 amplifier in my design, target to have 20W @ 4ohm speaker with 12V DC input. Fowllowing the application circuit stated in the datasheet, we have 17W @THD10% with 500mVrms input and gain set at 26dB. Is this an expected result or sth design wrong?

In addition, would like to ask a few question on the datasheet:

1) What is the max input voltage for each gain setting?

2) Page 12, table 2, it states that with condition of 12V, 1Vrms, 4ohm, gain 20dB, the output power is 17.2W. What is the THD of this result?

3) With the same condition as above, it states when the Vpp is 20.9v, the output power is 17.2w. How to convert into this parameter?

Many thanks!

Cheers,

Jacob

  • Hi Jacob,

1/ The maximum Input voltage is 6.3V for INN, INP whatever the gain set. What is the input voltage coming from your DAC or Codec ?

2/ Refer to the datasheet page 8, Figure 7, the THD+N in this condition is equal to approximately 5%

    3/ The Output power(W)= Vrms^2 / Rload

    Where Vrms = 0.3535* Vpp
