PCM5242 Power and Freq PLL questions

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM5242

Two questions for PCM5242:

1)      What the total part current draw if operating at 32khz sample rate. I think it is less than 80 mW but can you confirm?

2)      Can the frequency PLL can be used separately. I want to feed it 19.2 Mhz and get out 49.152 Mhz to send to another chip. Can you confirm if this is possible?

Thank you.

  • Hi Paul,

    1. This depends on what voltage you are operating at and what volume, and other system factors. A table of example results is on page 10 of the data sheet.

    2. Could you elaborate on what you mean by separately? It might be possible as there is an example close to this situation on page 53 of the data sheet, but it will have to adhere to the rules on page 50 of the data sheet.

  • 2. I don't think so, the PLL can only generate max 100MHz, but the frequency is divided by 4 when you route the PLL output to a GPIO pin.
