PCM1690 multichannel performance

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1690

Hello,

are numbers stated for dynamic performance of PCM1690 valid for stereo, or multichannel(all 8ch. on) operation? It seems that this is not stated in the data sheet. Some DAC will receive performance penalty from running all channels at the same time, I'd like to know whether is it the case with PCM1690.

Thank You

Best regards,

  • Hi Jan,

I'm am not sure if it was more than 2 channels (stereo) but in order to test the channel separation at least 2 channels must be used. I would assume that the rest of the measurements were done with 2 channels enabled if not more. This is the only factor we believe that would cause any change in performance when using multiple channels and we have that measurement specified in the data sheet. We have not seen degradation in performance form multiple channels being used or heard any feedback from customers with concern about this. The only differences you might see would be individual DAC performance inside the part as there is an acceptable range specified in the data sheet.
