PCM5142EVM-U TAS EEPROM Update

Hi there,

I'm trying to update the EVM firmware but with no success. The steps in the user guide say to short SCL and SDA before connecting the USB plug. When I do this my Device Manager only shows an unknown Device. The user guide says I should see a device called “DFUDevice”.

When I start DFUTEST.EXE the device is not recognized.

I've tried it several times but the device will never be recognized by windows as DFUDevice. So how can I update the TAS Firmware then?

Hi Florian,

Are you removing the short from SCL to SDA after plugging the device back into your computer?

Hi Florian,

Are you removing the short after power up? If you continue to short the pins after power up then there will be no way for the device to be communicated with.

Yes I do. The user manual says after 5 secs. I've tried several timings from 1 sec to 7 secs. No change. Device is shown as "Unknown". If I do a normal power up I'll get a speaker device, so I guess the chip is working so far.

Never mind, it was the driver which was not installed correctly.
