TLV320ADC3101EVM-K Connection problem

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320ADC3101EVM-K

I have just installed the TLV320ADC3101EVM-K according to the instructions, and also following the advice and workarounds from several posts on this forum and the wiki.  I believe the latest and correct version of the NI-VISA and USB drivers are installed based on what I see in device manager.

When I plug in the device, the correct LEDs light up as described in the slau267a.pdf.  I have tried both version 1.2 and 1.25 of the ADC3101 CS application, which I am running in XP compatibility mode with Admin privileges.  When I start the app it appears to briefly connect with the device and then shows "EVM disconnected...".

What am I doing wrong here?

  • Hello Angelo,

TLV320ADC3101EVM GUI uses the firmware loaded in the EEPROM that is located in the daughter-board. As the address the GUI searches is 0x30, you need to change the motherboard's EEPROM's address to one different from 0x30 and set the daughterboard's EEPROM address to 0x30.

This is done by modifying SW2 D1-3 (set one of them to OFF) in the motherboard and shorting W11 in the daughterboard.

  • Diego,

That did the trick (PurePath Studio is also now working with the device)! Might I respectfully suggest that you guys really need to update the Users Guide (slau267a) to explain that? I can't image how long it might have taken to figure that out without your help.

    Thanks,
    Angelo
  • Hi Angelo,

Thanks for the feedback, The process described in the user's guide is common for many of our devices. We'll work to correct this in future revisions of the ADC3101 User's Guide.
