DIX4192EVM Cannot install drivers

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DIX4192

The machines I am using are 64 bit windows 7/ Linux ubuntu 64 bit and or Mac os.

Cannot install the usb drivers in any of them.

ALL windows boxes show up as HDI USB and do not communicate. Please let me know how to communicate with 64 bit machines. I tried a virtual 32 bit xp, but the hardware translation layer did not work. I have made this work with numerous other USB <-> serial drivers but no luck with this one.

Please help

  • Suspecting that it was a 32/64 bit issue, I just built a hardware XP SP3 box... and the results are the same. The EVM when initially plugged in (Following the software installation is initially showing up in the icon tray as mini evm and usb audio, then the device manager shows the drivers selected show up as HID interfaces and the USB-MODEVM interface is inaccessible. I verified that it is in the c:\Windows\inf folder. There does not seem to be a hardware/os combination that allows the installation as described in EVM manual. There are no communications between the TI usb commander, but it shows no errors. There are no diagnostics on the supplied CD or on the TI Site to verify the proper installation or communication state of the EVM. There seems to be very little anywhere regarding the 4192EVM.

What is the supported Hardware/OS configuration? I hesitate to continue with EVM's requiring Drivers and interfaces... what am I doing wrong?

  • Hi Greg,

Unfortunately the DIX4192 EVM is an old EVM and the specific team members who worked on this board are no longer around. I have done some work on this board and I found the best solution was to jumper over I2C to the board from a separate device, either your own or another of our audio EVMs and use some of our other software (Control Software) to write I2C scripts and send the commands over I2C. I suspect the issue is the firmware running on the IC to translate USB to I2C/I2S. I used our USB-I2X board to jumper over I2C and run I2C commands.
