Appropriate codec for basic audio enhancement?

Hey

Among these chips, which could be much suited to perform basic audio enhancements like low frequency extension and stereo equalization. The speaker I am building requires only those modifications, but I am having a hard time finalizing and analyzing the appropriate codec for this application.

TLV320AIC3204, PCM3070, TLV320AIC3104 , TLV320AIC3254

Please assist for this task. The main things is that the first one has no mention of miniDSP in its feature list and the other three have it. So how different would it be to program those two enhancement in those chips.

The amp I am using is TPA3110 8W/ch amp.

Thanks.

  • Hi Arjun,

Basically it will depend on your application, for portable apps you can select any of AIC devices. If you don't need advanced processing you may select AIC3204, it is a very low power codec with a high-performance.

  • Hey

    1. The only enhancement I would like to implement are bass extension and a 28 band stereo equalizaton.

    2. How advantageous is it to have a miniDSP enabled chip at hand compared to AIC3204?

These are the only aspects which would help me proceed towards an application.

    Thanks.
