AIC3106 / Level Plan

Dear TI e2e Community,

For a IP Phone project in order create a level plan (to check whether e.g. overdriving could occur) and to distribute the gains correctly in the transmit and receiving paths we need information about the ADC and DAC. Normally we get information as follows for the chipsets that we’re using:

As can be seen in this example, the values of the programmable TX and RX gains are known. Additionally the ADC adds 2.33 dB to the transmit path, whereas the DAC attenuates the receiving path by 2.33 dB.

What are these dB-values for the ADC and DAC of the AIC3106?

Best regards,

Uli

  • Hi Uli,

After some tests, I found that the DAC has an amplification gain of approx. 2.4dB and the ADC has an attenuation gain of approx. 2.4dB. As you can see, the gain of the ADC compensates the gain of the DAC. So, when both converters are used together, the result is 0dB.

However, these are only approximated values obtained during a test, so we can't guarantee them.

I hope this helps you. If you still have questions, please let me know.

    Best regards,

    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.
