TAS5613(PHD2EVM) frequency response

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5613

Hi TI Engineer.

I am evaluating TAS5613PHD2EVM.

I have question of frequency response.

I got response at 40kHz/8ohm
However I could not get responce at 40kHz/4ohm.

Dose TAS5613 guarantee 40kHz/4ohm.
Ther was not description at data sheet.

See attached picture.

What should I aim at to select of 40kHz at-2dB at 4ohm?

*40kHz-2dB is requirement of DTS license.

Regards

  • Hi Masaki,

This response may be related to the output filter. The filter values from the EVM  were calculated to have keep the audible frequencies using 4 Ohm load, if you want to extend the cutoff frequency, you could try changing the inductor to 7uH. Using 8 Ohm load changes the filter response and extends the cutoff frequency.

  • Hi,
I'm working on a project that may use TAS5613 for the Left & Right outputs in 2-ch bridged configuration. I could not find information from the data sheet or from the document of the EV board about the phase relationship between inputs and outputs of this chip. Do you know if it is in-phase or out of phase between say, input A and Output A ? I need that information in order to determine the phase of a line-level subwoofer output. Thank you if you could look into this for me.

  • Hello Engne,

The TAS5613 does invert phase where Input_A and Output_B are considered +.and Input_B and Output_A are considered - for a BTL channel. The phase can easily be changed if needed by swapping the polarity of the inputs or the speaker.

  • Thanks Matt,
I'v also figured that out from studying the input and output connections of the chip in the datasheet. I'll be using many of it in my two new products. Right now, still in the stage of evaluating the system behavior with a newly designed power supply. Thanks again for getting back to me.

  • Thanks Engne,

Do you mind sharing a little more about your application? Do you have a target production ramp?
