tpa6140 single ended operation

Hello,

In the TPA6140 datasheet, on page 13 figure 28 the single ended operation is described. INR- and INR+ are connected to ground through a capacitor.

I think this capacitor is not necessary. Is this a documentation error or is there some reasons, why in single ended operation the IN- channels couldn t be directly grounded ? I want to save 2 capacitors with 1 uF.

Thanks for clearing this.

  • Hi Uwe,

These input capacitors are used to eliminate any DC bias from the audio source, you can read some info about this in the D/S Input Coupling Capacitors section. You can remove the inputs capacitors but the turn-on pop performance may be degraded.
You need to keep input capacitors in both IN+ and IN- inputs to avoid any impedance mismatch.
