TAS5717/TAS5731 Difference between TAS5717 and TAS5731 for DRC

Hi,

Could you please tell us the difference between TAS5717 and TAS5731 for the dynamic range control(DRC) ?
It seemed the difference between the feedback control and the feedforward control when we confirmed the DAP processing structure.
Please give us your advice about a technical point of view.

Hi Kato-San,

The DRC is different between these devices, and specifically, the TAS5717 has a more advanced DRC called AGL. This one is easier to program and is not so strict in terms of coefficient calculation as the DRC. These are the main differences:

DRC (TAS5731)

Feed-forward
Adjustable compression ratio
Settings:
- Threshold
- Compression ratio
- Energy filter
- Attack time
- Release time

AGL (TAS5717)

Feed-back
Fixed compression ratio
Settings:
- Threshold
- Softening filter
- Attack time
- Release time

AGL means "Automatic Gain Limiting"
