TAS5731 Single BTL / PBTL Configuration

Hi,

Could you please tell us the register settings in detail for the following requirements ?

<Requirements for Single BTL>
Output : Single BTL(1Channel Output)
BQ     : 8BQ
DRC    : Enable
Mixing : (L+R)/2

<Requirements for PBTL Configuration>
Output : PBTL
BQ     : 8BQ
DRC    : Enable
Mixing : (L+R)/2

Best regards,
Kato

  • Hi Kato San,

In order to get a mix of (L+R)/2 In the output, You could use the output mixer of channel 1 (Register 0x51), this way you may configure the BQ (you will have access up to 8 BQ/Ch) and DRC. In order to have the mix of (L+R)/2, you need to configure Register 0x51 as follows:

    !       [50%  Ch1  ] [50%   Ch2 ] [  0%   Ch3]
    X51 00 40 00 00 00 40 00 00 00 00 00 00

This way you will have the mixed output in the output channel 1.

    For BTL mode:

    • PWM SHUTDOWN GROUP and PWM OUTPUT MUX Registers could be left with the Default value.
    • PBTL pin (8) should be set as LOW.

    For PBTL mode:

    • PBTL pin (8) should be set as HIGH.
    • Out_A should be tied to Out_B and Out_C to Out_D before the LC filter
    • PWM SHUTDOWN GROUP (0x19) register's value should be:
      • X19  3A
    • PWM OUTPUT MUX (0x25) register should be configured as
      •  X25 01 01 23  45

DRC and BQs should be configured and  powered up independently.

  • Hi Diego-san,

    Thank you for your response.
For the BTL mode, don't we need to configure 0x52 register such as 0x51 register ?

    Best regards,
    Kato

  • Hi Kato-San,

It will depend which channel is selected as the output. If you want to use Channel 1, register 0x51 must be modified. If Channel 2 is preferred, Register 0x52 is the one that should be changed.

  • Hi Diego-san,

Thank you for your quick response.
Should we configure either of 0x51 register and 0x52 register to mix L/2 and R/2 if using the BTL mode with Out_A and Out_B ?
Could you please give me your advice just in case ?

    Best regards,
    Kato
