audio amplifier using lm386n1

Hello, 

I am trying to build a tone generator circuit wherein I am using arduino due to generate sine, sawtooth, square wave. This output is then fed to LM326N1 ( input is nearly b/w 0.9V to 2.9V ) pin 3. The circuit is built as shown in datasheet. I have connected a speaker of rating 0.5W, 8ohm. 

Basically I am not getting any output from pin 5, so not able to get any tone out of speaker. 

so, is my IC damaged ?

secondly, the datasheet speaks about giving a supply of +- 0.4V 

Third, LM386N1 power rating is nearly 350mW. so can I use this to drive 0.5W ( max ) speaker?

please let me know how to go about.

    Hi Saravanan,

    Which diagram are you following?
    Do you have any captures from the input and output? (A capture of the output before the decoupling capacitor would be helpful to see if the amplifier is operating thus there should be an offset voltage)
    What's your Vs voltage?
    Your speaker should be fine for this application.
    More details would be helpful for us to give you better support.
