TLV320AIC3100EVM-U with external MCU

Hi,

i'm trying to understand to to get the TLV320AIC3100EVM-U  bpard working against I2S source without the USB connection.

currently if i'm trying to get board working with the test pins only

( 5V power to W5, ground to TP15, and data to the test pins), i on't get it to work.

as it seems all data connections drop to less than 1v when i connect them to the evaluation board.

any ideas why? or how can i make the board work as stand alone board?

  • Hi, OMRI,

Welcome to E2E and thank you for your interest in our products!

The TLV320AIC3100EVM-U is designed to be used with the USB connection. If you want to use it without the USB connection. You must be sure that all the codec power pins are being powered properly (AVDD = 3.3V; SPVDD = 5V; HPVDD = 3.3V; DVDD = 1.8V; IOVDD = 3.3V). Then it is suggested to disconnect the TAS1020b from the codec. Probably the data connections drop to less than 1V because the TAS1020b generates these signals.

  • thanks,

is there an easy way to do this? a jumper of some pins to shortcut?

or the simplest way is taking the evaluation board apart and hope for the best?

  • Hi, OMRI,

I think the best option would be to use the power supplies jumpers. I recommend to cut all the jumpers to avoid any damage on the +1.8V, +3.3V and 5V power regulators:

Then, regarding the data connections, the only way to use them is with the test points. However, I would suggest to disconnect the TAS1020B to ensure a correct behavior of the signals:
