Hi Philip

If the line impedance changes, It shouldn't cause damage on the device. The picture seems to show a short circuit but TPA2012d2 has short-circuit protection. It should protect the device of any short-circuit. You could refer the next post "TPA2012D2 Short Circuit and Thermal Protection" to find more information. Have you used other speakers in the testing?
