PCM2912A - Operation with INPUT Only

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM2912A

Hi there,

I am currently working on the layout for a PCM2912A. In my application is no need for the headphone output of the device.

So my question is:

Can I simply not connect the headphone pins like HGND and V_CC to save space? Or are they essential even for input only usage?

Thanks,

Stoane

  • Hi Stoane,

If you're not using the HP output you should do as follows:
Pin 18 - VoutL - Left HP Out - floating
Pin 19 - VccL - Analog Supply for HP Left channel amplifier - put 1 uF ceramic and connect to power
    Pin 20 - HGND - Headphone ground - ground
Pin 21 - VccR - Analog Supply for HP Right channel amplifier - put 1 uF ceramic and connect to power
Pin 22 - VoutR - Right HP Out - floating
Pin 9 - FL - Filter for Left channel - floating
Pin 10 - FR - Filter for Right channel - floating
