TLV320AIC3104 line output powering

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3104

Hi all,

The TLV320AIC3104 datasheet mentions that bit0 of register 93 (RIGHT_LOP/M Output level control) is a read-only bit indicating power status.

I wasn't able to get sound out of the codec (using the DAC_R3 direct DAC-to-LineOut path) until I have set this bit to 1.
Reading out Module Power Status register 94 confirms this.

The very same bit for the HPx registers is R/W and controls the power status.
This seems to be the same for the Line Output registers despite the datasheet claiming the opposite.

Best regards,

JC

  • Hi, JC,

Welcome to E2E and thank you for your interest in our products.

You're right. There's a typo error on the TLV320AIC3104 datasheet. The bit D0 of Page 0 / Registers 86 (LEFT_LOP/M Output Level Control Register) and 93 (RIGHT_LOP/M Output Level Control Register) must be marked as R/W. This bit must be '1' to fully power up the line outputs.

We are working to eliminate this mistake on the datasheet.

I hope this helps you. Please let me know if you have more questions or comments.

    Best regards,
    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.
