ADC3101 - Master Mode Device's BCLK Stops After Tinycap

Audio Champs,

We are running our ADC3101 in master mode with a BCLK as an output driving downstream slaves.  We've noticed that my TinyCap crashes after recording.

After some investigation we un-covered that when TinyCap crashes, we find that the Master's is still receiving MCLK but it stops generating BCLK.

We are wondering if Register 29: ADC Interface Control 2, Bit D2: BCLK and WCLK Active With Codec Powered Down might have something to do with it.

But the documentation is vague and we do not know  the conditions that result in the Codec being powered down.  Good thing for E2E.

    After much more investigation.  We discovered that Tinycap is writing a 0x00 to Register 81, which is shutting down the ADC. 

    Not having set Register 29:D2 to 1 resulted in it's BCLK to turn off following it's ADCs being shutdown.  Setting D2 to 1 results in BCLK being output regardless of the state of the ADC. 

    Are there any other conditions that would result in BCLK shutting down if Register 29:D2 is not set?

    Hi, Mike,

    You're right. The BCLK is generated when the ADC is enabled. If the ADC is powered down, the only way to generate the BCLK is by the register 29 (D2). These are the only conditions that affect the BCLK behavior.
