TPA3110D2 output Shutdown issue.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA3110D2

Hi Sir,

Our customer used the TPA3110D2 on product,
But they have some failure units with output shutdown.

We have Capture the input signal LINP/LINN and brfore C1846's AUDIO_COMB with FAULT pin. but we got two different result on same PCB as below picture.

Schematic:

Condition 1 : sometimes, output shutdown, that is similar DC Detection function 420ms FAULT pin change to Low the output shutdown.

The LINN has Low to High and High to Low transient .

Condition 2 : and sometimes, output normal, we don't change any one on PCB.

Do you know the  root cause of the output shutdown?

Why the LINN connect 1uF to GND but still have difference signal? (Low to High and High to Low transient)

  • Hi, Hugo

This behavior is a little strange.

Can you check with below items (Need your help):

Step 1: solder the LINN again to make sure the LINN has a good connection.

Step 2: Exchange C1855 and C1847 to see if LINN still has this issue.

    Thanks a lot.

  • Hi, Hugo
Based on the capture you provide, the shutdown is caused by the DC Detection (because LINP and LINN's common mode voltage is not equal). So the first thing we need to solve is to find the root cause why the LINN has a pulse during the power on start-up stage. May be there is short (or similar behavior) between LINN and GND.
  • Hi Hugo,

On your schematic you show two signals that appear to be summed into the LINP pin, but shown as zero (0) ohm? Is this correct? I'm guessing you actually have a real value in there? If not, add an appropriate resistor value here (and in the remaining inputs), and keep in mind that any imbalance in the impedance of these two inputs will give you an error. How are these traces routed on the board? Next to each other with no ground between...?
