PCM2706 compatibility with Macbook Pro

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM2706

Dear all,

We have a miniboard where we do the conversion Digital to Analogue áudio signal through PCM2706. We already tested to android and Windows and work fine. When We tested with Macbook Pro through USB Port the Macbook shut down and stayed in the protection mode where only was possible power on again when we removed the battery during some time.

Our question is: PCM2706 is incompatible with Mac devices through digital USB connection? Or only it was a bug in the MAC?

Anyone tested with success with MAC devices?

Thank you a lot

  • Hi Vitor,

Most likely PCM2706 should be able to work with Mac OS; it only needs to be recognized by the inherent drivers in the OS.
Sounds odd that Android and Windows worked fine with the device but Mac didn't.
The weirdest thing here is that the Mac was shut down when you connected your board.
Have you used the same board to test Android, Windows and Mac?
Is there a chance that a hardware issue at the USB port is causing this (in your board or in the Mac)?
Have you tried to plug your board in a different USB port of the Mac?

    Best regards,

  • Hi Ivan,

    Thank you for your reply.

We used the same board to test the Windows, Android & Mac. I didn't plug to other Mac or other USB port because I am affraid to hapen again. My goal is to receive your feedback about your tests with Mac. Do you have any registered problema with Mac?

    Thank you

  • Hi Vitor,

There are no problems registered with PCM2706 and Mac.
