TPA3110D2 AGND Pin Usage

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA3110D2

Question: I am looking at the datasheet for the TPA3110D2 and I notice that there is a pin named AGND (analog ground), Pin 8.  I would like to isolate this pin from the device's PGND and use it as a ground for my op amps and other analog functions.  It will ultimately connect to the system ground at a star point I have created.  Will this work?

Answer: No is will impare the functioning of the device.  With regards to the TPA3110D2, the AGND is a local, low current ground for the device.  The AGND pin should be connected to the PowerPad under the device.  We recommend running a PCB route out from the AGND pin to create an isolated ground for the GVDD capacitor and the digital logic input and pins.  Please refer to the EVM User's Guide available on www.ti.com for a detailed PCB routing example.
