LM4995 / 8Ohm replace 4Ohm SPK Solution

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM4995

Dear TI employee

I know that LM4995 Audio Amp output spec is 8Ohm 1.3W

We want to use 4Ohm, 3W spk and should be using LM4995 now.

Do you have any solution and reference schematic?

I wait your fast reply.

If you have a question. any time contact me.

Thanks a lot

  • Hi Gerald

You should take into account the power dissipation because it is higher with 4Ω. You can refer the AUDIO POWER AMPLIFIER DESIGN section of the amplifier's datasheet to find reference schematic.
Please Let me know if you have more questions.

  • Hi Jose
    Thank you for your reply

I knew that Po(Output Power) typical is 1.3W.
However, It isn't show Output power Limit on datasheet.

can we know Limit Output power(W)?

If you have a question. any time contact me.
    Thanks a lot.

  • Hello Gerald

You can refer to the figure 23 of the amplifier's datasheet to find that output power is almost 2W at THD+N=10%. The output power would be higher with a load of 4Ω, but you should take into account the power dissipation in the device.
