LM49352 CLOCKING

I think the questions are currently not too much depth.

From hardware point of view, I actually have only one question related to the clocking.

Is it mandatory to have a clock signal at pin MCLK or can everything be supplied with the internal oscillator.
After a reset, is the ext clock to MCLK required the internal clock? Is there an internal switch to switch between ext to internal clock?

I was sure that a clock on the pin MCLK is not mandatory, since I can use the internal clock as clocking for the entire part.

The real problem is that we and our customer have modules that behave differently.

In my opinion this misbehavior comes that the codec does not disable properly.
After the deactivation of the part, it happens that the LS output generate a PWM signal, so is this pin at high impedance or at different potentials? because we got the issue that the speaker gets hot.

Do we need a PCM clock, so that we deactivate the part completely? or the interne Clock is enough?
Is an external clock needed to switch to the internal clock, when we previously set the clock source as PCM, and what happen if the PCM Clock no longer exists?

I hope I could make my problem somewhat understandable

  • Hi Kamal,

I think I don't completely understand your questions. I think PMC_Setup (0x00) register could be useful, if you want to use external MCLK source you can use bit 4 to force this.
The issue your customer is seeing is that the device is not completely disabled? What process/register settings are you using to enable and disable the device?
