Need help for TLV320AIC3262

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3262

Hi experts,

Recently, I design a small PCB by using TLV320aic3262 and a MCU. My application function is that a microphone which is used to collect sounds is connected to aic3262, the sounds will be amplified by aic3262 and then transmitted outside by a loudspeaker. Briefly it is just a sound real time amplification function.

So the connection between aic3262 and MCU is MCLK1 , IIC and /reset to IO. By IIC  the registers could be configured correctly. Does it work?

Do I need to connect the ASI interface to MCU for my application?

Look forward to your help and answers.

Thank you.

  • Hi, Kevin,

Yes, it would work correctly. It is just a loopback option of the TLV320AIC3262, so there's no need to connect the ASI interface to MCU. The codec would need to be configured as master (BCLK and WCLK as outputs) in case of you need an ADC to DAC loopback.

I just recommend to ensure that the power pins are connected correctly to the respective power supply. You may take as example the Typical Application of datasheet for details. Additionally, make sure that the SPI_SELECT pin is configured in order to use the IIC protocol (SPI_SELECT = '0').

Please let me know if you have more questions or comments.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Louis,

Thank you for your fast response.

As you mentioned my application could be implemented by ADC-DAC loop back but I need to configure codec as Master by BCLK and WCLK as output? It is just register configuration. Should connect the BCLK and WCLK pins to MCU? In my current design, I just connected the MCLK1 pin of CODEC to MCLK of MCU. Does it work?

Also if I use the loop back mode, could I still use the miniDSP to finish some signal processing work, such as adaptive filtering?

Thank you. Look forward to your response. Have a nice day.

  • Hi, Kevin,

That's correct. When the ADC or DAC is used on the codec, it is necessary to have a BCLK and WCLK signal as input or output. That's because the processing blocks need some BCLK pulses to be initialized. There's no need to connect the BCLK and WCLK pins to the MCU. You only need to consider that these pins will have a digital signal. The codec can work only with the MCLK signal as master.

Yes, the analog miniDSP and digital miniDSP can be used in loopback mode. The loopback mode can route the ADC output to the DAC input. Additionally, the miniDSP can be configured to use an interprocessor to route the analog miniDSP to the digital miniDSP.

    Have a nice day too!
