LM4766 Questions

Dear Engineers,

3 Questions.....

1) What pin is the case connected to on the package (non-isolated NDL)

2) What is your recommendation for an appropriate time constant regarding the mute feature on the device so it doesn't fade or in before the POP upon turn on?

3) What is the input capacitance of the device?

Chris

  • Hello Christopher

    1) I haven't been able to understand your question, Could you please provide more details about that?
    2) You should provide enough time to discharge completely the input capacitors, that'd avoid to get pop noise.
    3) I haven't been able to find this information. Unfortunately, the people who worked with this part isn't longer on TI and this device doesn't have an EVM get this value.

  • Dear Jose,

The first question is just inquiring whether the case of the device is hot or ground, meaning is it connected to GND or Vee or Vcc?

Second question well I know that there should be enough time, I am asking for how much time is appropriate so how long is turn on or turn off to pop? When you turn on the chip, how much time does it take for this one to pop before it fully turns on?

Would you have a ballpark guesstimate regarding this capacitance value?

    Chris

  • Christopher,

    1) Do you mean where the thermal pad should be connected? If so, that should be connected to GND.
    2) A ballpark estimate could be 100ms, but I think that you should calculate the capacitor discharge time and then, you'll be able to choose appropriate time. On the other hand, you should take into account that Cm create a large time to turn-on and turn-off.
    3) I'm not sure, but I'll continue searching and I'll come back to you with more information about this.

    Best Regards
