DIX4192

Is there any way to verify that DIX chip is ready to use ? In my case, DIX chip is only connected to Host. I do not care about the Transmitter and Receiver as of now. Basically I want to detect whether DIX chip got the clocked as expected by performing any kind of reads from the DIX chip ( using software only )
