Asking for how to tune the Q value for TAS5753 Q value

Hi Team,

Could you let us know how to tune the Q value for the Bass/Treble Shelf filter?

e2e.ti.com/.../Filter-Equations.pdf

Thanks,

Scott

  • Hi, Scott,

As I mentioned before, the formula used for the calculation of the Treble/Bass Shelf Filters is indicated in the pdf you are attaching, and does not allow the use of Q as input parameter. The formula used by the GUI considers a Q factor of 1/sqrt(2), equivalent to 0.707 as this is the optimized Q for this kind of digital filters.

If the Q factor is required to change, I think the only solution might be to calculate the coefficients externally and load them to the GUI. It would be complicated to add a Q tuning function to the GUI as the Shelf filters implemented in our GUIs are optimized to have the better response.

  • TPV and LG are asking how to calculate the coefficient. Did we have better way to get the coefficient?
Customer cannot really understand how to get the coefficient from the pdf file.

    Thank you and Best regards,

  • Hi, Scott,

Thanks for clarifying your question. From the PDF file, it would be complicated to tune Q factor as this parameter is set to a constant value, so the formulas you are seeing, are already optimized for the filter type. I think we have a file used to calculate the BQ coefficients, I will look for it and perform some tests to see if it works as expected. I will contact you as soon as I get any update.
