TPA6132A2 shutdown pops

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA6132A2, TPA6138A2

"Activate the TPA6132A2 after all audio sources have been activated and their output voltages have settled. On power-down, deactivate the TPA6132A2 before deactivating the audio input source. The EN pin controls device shutdown: Set to 0.6 V or lower to deactivate the TPA6132A2; set to 1.3 V or higher to activate."

Do you have a recommended circuit for activating the amp after a delay, but quickly deactivating it when supply voltage falls to prevent pops?  Circuits generally can't predict when power is going to be removed to turn off EN first.

  • Hi Jonathan,

You could try to implement a circuitry like UVP in the TPA6138A2 or actually use TPA6138A2.
This UVP circuit detects when the supply is being powered off and mutes the device before the supply voltage is completely removed.
