Single Channel Audio Codec with ECHO & Noise Cancellation

Unfortunately, there are no codecs with inbuilt echo and noise cancellation feature. It would be necessary to use an external DSP for this case. Please take a look at this wiki article for details:

Hi, Krunal,

The TLV320AIC3254 can be interfaced with the devices that support I2C or SPI protocols. Also, the device should support audio transmission protocols such I2S, left-justified, right-justified and DSP modes. If your main micro controller supports these protocols, you should be able to interface this codec with it.

This codec miniDSP features multiple algorithms for filtering, mixing, volume control, etc. However, as the wiki article mentions, our miniDSPs don't have enough capabilities to make echo and noise cancellation. It would be necessary to use an additional DSP.

Thank you so much for the reply. My current codec is working on the I2C and I2S protocol for communication with my main controller.

Today while searching the TI website i found that TLV320AIC3254-Q1  also have acoustic echo cancellation and active noise cancellation support.

But i have once question for these both ICs (TLV320AIC3254 or TLV320AIC3254-Q1)  does they inbuilt DSP algorithm or we need to write in to it with every power up cycle form our micro controller. If we need to write it from Micro controller how to create that algorithm for AEC & ANC

Our primary goal is use this kind of IC in such that i should be able to record and playback at same time without any ECHO and/or Noise. We need not do any mixing or volume control and other application.

Please suggest if TLV320AIC3254-Q1 is good to use for ECHO and Noise cancellation and how to create algorithm for them if not in built in the device.

Unfortunately, the echo and noise cancellation algorithms are not supported anymore in our codec devices. This is due to the limited capabilities of the codec miniDSP as mentioned in the wiki article ( e2e.ti.com/.../2521.minidsp-echo-cancellation-aec ). The echo and noise cancellation cannot be implemented correctly. So, it would be necessary to use an external DSP.

Thank you so much. But as per datasheet of TLV320AIC3254-Q1, it  can do the ECHO and Noise Cancellation. also My controller does not support DSP so how i can use TLV320AIC3254-Q1 FOR ECHO AND NOISE CANCELLATION.

Please let me know which datasheet i should refer for TLV320AIC3254-Q1 where it is mentioned it is not supporting ECHO and Noise Cancellation.

The echo and noise cancellation was removed from the codecs miniDSP in 2014. Since the last revision of the TLV320AIC3254-Q1 was in 2013, the datasheet mentions that it is supported. However, as I mentioned, the miniDSP cannot make a really effective echo and noise cancellation due to the limited capabilities.

i understand that noise cancellation feature is not supported by any of the TI audio codecs.please confirm. we are planning to use Tlv320aic3263.

Effectively, the noise and echo cancellation algorithms are not supported by our TI audio codecs. You would require an external DSP to configure these algorithms.
