Thermal protection

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5760M, TAS5754M

Hi All,

We found the thermal protection of TAS5670 occurs ( OTE )  under the below condition.

Input voltage : 24V

output power : BTL  2 X40W

Load : 4 ohm each channel.

test signal : 100HZ  sine wave.

Heat sink : the heat sink is on the bottom side of the PCB.

After a few seconds later , the AMP continuous turn OFF and turn ON again and again.

We would like to know what is the continuous output power under above condition. if this IC is not able to support such power rating , Please suggest the IC for us.

Beat regards

  • Hi, Kelvin,

Welcome to E2E, Thanks for your interest in our products!.

Having 40W continuous output power in BTL mode is quite harsh for the TAS5760M, the maximum specified continuous power is 11W under those conditions. If you need an amplifier capable of getting 40W continuous output power, then maybe the TAS5754M could be a good choice if the load can be changed to 8Ohm, this device can deliver a maximum of 40W into 8Ohm load  in BTL mode:
