TAS5754M, mute and clock error

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5754M

Hello team,

I would like to know MUTE and clock error on TAS5754M.

1) Can we avoid pop/click with SPK_MUTE asserting low, even when power up or I2S clock changes?

2)Is there any things we should do if I2S MCLK changes or stops?

Handling SPK_MUTE pin is enough?

3) If clock error detected, the device will reduce the volume down to Mute. In that situation, how can we unmute?

Description of P0-R2(page 65) says, clock error condition leads the device to a system standby mode. Should we change P0-R2 register?

Best regards,

Taketo Sato

  • Hi, Sato-san,

Please refer to my comments below.

1-SPK_MUTE pin slowly decreases the volume of the amplifier when used to mute the ampifier, this soft transition helps reducing any pop/click issue.

2- When an invalid I²S clock is detected, the amplifier will mute the amplifier automatically and enters in Standby mode. You can use SPK_MUTE if you want to have a controlled mute option when changing/stopping I²S clocks.

3- The amplifier will resume normal operation after valid clocks have been provided, so there is no need to change P0-R02 register.
