An Encrease Power Output on AMP (TPA3255)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA3255

Dear, I am new in AMP design.

My question is:

Can I increase output power with adding more TPA3255 chips in Power Amplifier and how to connect them?

With respects

Marko Jankovic

  • Hello Marko,

I assume you want to get more power into a single speaker?

The TPA3255 has a maximum voltage of 51.5V. PBTL mode offers the most power of a single device since it bridges the stereo channels into mono. It does not allow for more voltage swing into a load but it doubles the available current into a mono speaker. This means to get more power in PBTL, the load impedance must be reduced.

If you are looking to bridge multiple TPA3255 devices, again the voltage doe not increase, just current and load handing capability. However, we have not tried bridging multiple TPA3255 devices before. I assume you would want to bridge 2 devices both in PBTL? This may work, but you would have to test it.

    Best Regards,
    Matt
  • Yes Mr. Mattheaw,

I want to build AMP for speaker with 4 x 500w at the 8 ohm's and single chip is too low for this speaker.

    OK thanks for response!
