BT speaker solution question

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1862, PCM1864

Hi team,

My customer needs to develop a BT speaker, They need audio ADC and USB->audio device,Their needs listed as bellow:

1. Audio ADC:3 channel input ADC (analog inputs: AUX, BT, USB DAC), supports USB DAC and AUX mixer or USB DAC and BT mixer, My recommendation is PCM1862 and customer want to use AIC3101, can these two devices support mixer function,Do you have any comments ?

2. USB-> analog audio :Support I2C control connector, I have checked PCM270XC and PCM290XC,but all these two devices can only support hardware control.

  • Hi, Bing Dong,

1- I would recommend the use of the PCM1864 instead of the devices that you mentioned. The PCM1862 and AIC3101 support mixer function, but they are stereo codecs. So, they support up to 2 channels at time. The PCM1862 supports secondary ADC, but is is used for Energysense and Controlsense. So, I recommend the PCM1864 since it supports up to 4 channels and mixer function.

2- Regarding the USB DAC/Codec, these devices are controlled only by hardware. They require only few switches/buttons to modify volume or mute externally. It is not necessary to make a software control.

    Best regards,
