Single channel Audio DSP needed

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS3204

TI Forum

We have a series of audio control modules to produce, with which we intend to demonstrate a new product concept this summer. Each unit is independent and requires a single channel DSP capable of simple EQ (for example a Baxandall with variable gain, Q and threshold frequency or an equivalent parametric EQ) and delay from 5ms to 250ms. THD and IMD distortion must remain <1%, with a linear response from 100Hz to 10KHz. Input to the module will be a balanced audio signal of about 1V, output will be unbalanced. The controls for setting the level, EQ, and delay will be provided on the enclosure of each module.

What low cost DSP chip set would you suggest from TI for this application?

Thank you for your help.

  • Hi Sooch,

I would check out the TAS3xxxx Product Family. In particular the TAS3204 has a lot of the features you are looking for in an SoC package.

  • Drew,

Thank you for your suggestion, though as I am sure you realize, the TAS3204 offers, to put it mildly much more processing than the application at hand requires. Would you have any other suggestions? Would you consider it the best choice available on the market today? Would you consider the TAS3xxx family the best choice for this application available from TI?

    Thanks again for your  help.
