Hello team ,

my customer has have ported TLV320ADC3101 driver from kernel 3.0.8 to the required kernel 3.10.96. Codec is registered in ALSA successfully.

In 3.0.8 codec driver, there are procedure to load the audio codec FW (Firmware) . If they do not have to run any custom algorithm in DSP, still is it mandatory to load this kind of FW ?

tlv320adc3x01_slave_v1.bin" is loaded as per driver .they want to know its significance.

Reiterating the question in a simple way ,
Does TLV320ADC3101 require any Firmware to be loaded to perform its normal operation?

by normal operation i mean
We are using Audio codec to record audio data from MIC. In the previous mail, I meant the Functionality of audio codec to start sending out the audio data through I2S to Processor

Hi, Shreenidhi,

The TLV320ADC3101 doesn't require a firmware. All its configuration is made via I2C. Once the register configuration is made, the TLV320ADC3101 can start recording.
